Chapter Summaries

Dan Lei and Guinaifen investigated the Dreamweavers’ work area, then Dan Lei helped Star understand the limits of her Clockwork Trick and meet Liuying in secret. Liuying revealed that Elio’s script predicted she would win the Holy Grail War and use her wish to cure her entropy loss syndrome, leaving Dan Lei to consider letting her claim the prize.

• Sampo asked Sparkle to return his mask, but Sparkle left to find Star and told him to search for Black Swan.
• Dan Lei toured the Dreamweavers’ work area with Guinaifen but did not find Chadwick, then they encountered Star and Liuying being confronted by a Hound Family guard.
• Star’s Trailblaze power caused the guard to lose his temper, and Dan Lei concealed the cause while persuading Guinaifen to let him return to his post.
• Dan Lei privately questioned Star about Clockwork Trick, tested it with the Twelve Emotions Array, and warned her not to use it carelessly or reveal it to people she did not trust.

• Himeko sent Star, March 7th, Lumine, and Paimon to investigate the Golden Hour while she and Welt sought information from the Family.
• Lumine sensed an aura resembling Abyss corruption, and the group followed it into an alley, where they encountered Boothill and his Lancer.
• Sparkle surrounded the group with black mist, knocked them unconscious, and trapped Star and Lumine in a silent dream while Paimon was captured by What Faces Death.
• Star, Lumine, and Liuying learned that a monster was pursuing them and that using a Command Spell would cause What Faces Death to eat Paimon.
• Lumine destroyed the first challenge and blasted through Grady's monsters, leading Star and Liuying to What Faces Death's room.

Ying, Star, Liuying, and their allies fought What Faces Death in its empowered domain, freed Paimon, and briefly drove the monster away. It returned under Gallagher’s Command Spell and ambushed the group, but Liuying shoved Star clear and was struck down in her place.

• Ying used an Overload reaction to blast What Faces Death into a wall while Star rescued Paimon from its energy cage.
• Star and Ying regrouped with Liuying, who explained that the space had greatly strengthened What Faces Death and the other Dream Troupe members.
• Black Swan restrained What Faces Death, and Welt and Himeko arrived; Himeko wounded the monster with a powerful slash, forcing Mianmian to escape underground.
