Background / History
Vodka and Yamato Akagi became known as the “Peerless Duo” after challenging the long-standing belief that female Uma Musume were inherently weaker than male competitors. Their first racetrack meeting became a prolonged final-straight duel; Vodka won the Tulip Sho, with the pair finishing 6 horse lengths ahead of third place, while Yamato reclaimed victory in the following Oka Sho. 33
After losing the Oka Sho, Vodka chose to enter the Japanese Derby rather than continue solely toward the Filly Triple Crown. She was the only female Uma Musume among 18 entrants and won by 3 horse lengths, becoming the first female winner of the Japanese Derby in 64 years. 41
Following her Academy years, Vodka studied mechanical engineering in Europe. Originally interested in building the world’s fastest motorcycle, she shifted her research toward Uma Musume aerodynamics and reducing wind resistance. She later returned to work more closely with Academy juniors and pursue inspiration through their training. 41

| Summer Dream Cup | 1st | Returned to defeat Special Week, Grass on the Fly, Seiun Sky, and other senior racers. 171 |
Appearance
Vodka is a dark-haired Uma Musume with neat, short dark-brown hair. In Dubai, she trains in a red-and-white tracksuit while carrying a tablet and stylus for performance analysis. 331 511
- Brown ears and tail, which she flattens back when accelerating. 88
- Uses a notably low-slung, aggressive racing posture, sometimes nearly parallel to the track. 404
- Often carries sunglasses at high-profile races. 344
Personality
Vodka is intensely competitive, particularly when Yamato Akagi is involved. Her decision to pursue the Japanese Derby came from wanting to defeat Yamato after the Oka Sho, regardless of Yamato’s absence from that Derby. 144
She has a strong, sometimes difficult-to-control desire to run. Her former Trainer reportedly had to tell her to restrain her speed during races; the senior training race against Hokubu Genkoma was the first time she could run freely. 143
Despite her forceful and teasing manner, Vodka is attentive to juniors’ health, confidence, and long-term growth. She acts with particular concern toward Mejiro Thunder, while her advice to Hokubu Genkoma and Yasui Makoto consistently emphasizes composure, experience, and gradual progress. 81 347 463
Vodka is uncomfortable with romantic conversations; discussion of Hokubu Genkoma and Yasui Makoto being a good match causes her to suffer nosebleeds. 45
Abilities & Skills
Elite Racing
Vodka possesses exceptional speed, stamina, race experience, and tactical awareness. Her Japanese Derby final three furlongs were completed in 33 seconds, an explosive finishing time. 50
- Times her acceleration to counter Yamato Akagi before the final straight rather than waiting for a conventional sprinting opportunity. 88
- Can maintain an unusually fast and steady pace over the opening phase, disrupting an opponent’s rhythm without relying on advanced techniques. 137 138
- Exploits narrow openings in a crowded pack through precise positioning. 169
- Uses an aggressive outside-lane pursuit style on heavy turf, carving a path through mud for racers behind her. 403 404
- Understands the different stamina costs of maintaining speed versus repeatedly accelerating. 246
Domain
Vodka is recognized as a Domain-level Uma Musume. She explains that a Domain is not a supernatural power, but the extreme refinement of fundamentals such as speed, strength, and technique. 347
- Activated her Domain during a senior training race intended to pressure and test Hokubu Genkoma. 139
- Warns that Domain use sharply increases stamina expenditure. 139
- Helped confirm that Hokubu Genkoma’s sub-second burst in Dubai was an early Domain breakthrough. 348
Training and Mentorship
Vodka is an experienced coach with extensive knowledge of Shining Series racing and athlete development.
- Personally coached successful Uma Musume including Aino Bright and Symboli Rudolf while serving as Tracen Academy Student Council vice president. 79
- Mentors Hokubu Genkoma in positioning, pace control, Japanese Derby strategy, and the importance of maintaining one’s own rhythm. 53 139 143
- Guides Mejiro Thunder’s training and temperament adjustment, hoping Hokubu Genkoma’s optimism can help reduce Thunder’s race anxiety. 81
- Leads special training groups and considers both performance goals and fairness to all participating Uma Musume. 395 399
- Gives Yasui Makoto practical guidance on remaining calm, avoiding overtraining, and learning from experience rather than chasing instant perfection. 343 348
Data Analysis and Engineering
Vodka combines her engineering background with detailed performance analysis.
- Researches Uma Musume aerodynamics, particularly methods to reduce wind resistance. 41
- Understands drone filming and its potential for multi-angle training analysis. 44
- Analyzes muscle-vibration frequencies, training data, and environmental conditions to revise Mejiro Thunder’s program in Dubai. 332
- Uses practical recovery methods, including mint-water-soaked bandages to help prevent tendon stiffness. 332
Relationships
- Yamato Akagi — Lifelong rival, close friend, and fellow member of the “Peerless Duo.” Their rivalry helped overturn prejudice against female Uma Musume. 33 41
- Hokubu Genkoma — Junior whom Vodka trains, tests, and advises; Vodka agreed to help because Hokubu had supported her and Yamato in the past. 41 139
- Mejiro Thunder — Younger member of the same family and an older-sister-like mentee relationship; Vodka closely monitors her racing, health, and emotional state. 81 463
- Yasui Makoto — Fellow mentor and professional peer. Vodka provides tactical, administrative, and developmental advice while recognizing his ability to understand her analysis. 332 347 396
- Special Week — Friendly rival whose racing spirit inspires Vodka; Special Week supports and celebrates Vodka after the Summer Dream Cup. 171
- Tokai Teio — Student Council colleague who discusses Hokubu Genkoma’s potential and coordinates senior training support with Vodka. 122 116
Story Role / Major Arcs
Hokubu Genkoma’s Senior Mentor
Vodka first appears alongside Yamato Akagi and Good Opera, immediately displaying her familiar rivalry with Yamato. After Hokubu Genkoma asks for help, Vodka joins Yamato in training her junior, including simulated-lag and positioning exercises. 33 41 42 53
She later uses an intense training race to expose Hokubu Genkoma to the reality of Japanese Derby competition. Vodka explains that the Derby’s prestige drives opponents to run at extreme early pace, and teaches Hokubu that her own rhythm must remain stable amid unpredictable tactics. 137 139 143
Mejiro Thunder’s Guardian
Vodka becomes increasingly involved in Mejiro Thunder’s development, arranging for her to train with Hokubu Genkoma as a way to address her race anxiety. She continues supervising Thunder during overseas acclimatization and strongly prioritizes her safety after demanding races. 81 331 463
Dubai Training and Domain Guidance
In Dubai, Vodka serves as an analyst, mentor, and organizer for international preparation. She guides Yasui Makoto through the intensity of world-class competition, refuses to abandon the race despite discomfort from media flashes, and helps him recognize Hokubu Genkoma’s brief Domain breakthrough. 342 343 347 348
She later leads special training designed to give Hokubu Genkoma the external pressure needed to access the Domain again, while cautioning Yasui Makoto about the risks and scrutiny attached to his increasingly bold decisions. 395 396
