Those Idols We Chased in Those Years
Whether it was Harry and Hermione or the other first-years, they were all gradually becoming familiar with everything at Hogwarts: the teachers, the classes, the magic, and those damned staircases!
Harry excelled in every class, earning praise from the teachers and points for Gryffindor. Aside from the Slytherin first-years, the first-years from the other three Houses had already made Harry their idol!
Herbology: the short, plump witch Sprout praised loudly, "Mr. Potter has taken the best care of his walking grass. Three points to Gryffindor!"
Charms: Professor Flitwick said excitedly, "In yesterday's test, Harry Potter wrote all ten basic spells from memory correctly! Because of the famous Potter, I've decided to award Gryffindor five points!" Every time Professor Flitwick gave Gryffindor points, it was as though he had been granted some tremendous honor!
Malfoy said jealously, "Professor, isn't that too many points?" Malfoy felt foolish and naïve. How had he ever agreed to that bet with Harry?
It had been nearly a month since school began. Though he had worked hard to distinguish himself and had even earned some points for Slytherin, he would certainly have been proud of himself if Harry did not exist. But compared to Harry, he only wanted to pull his head into his shell like a turtle! This was too unfair! Was Harry even human? Harry alone was worth the efforts of every first-year combined! And there was Hermione, a girl only slightly worse than Harry but far superior to everyone else!
Was his fate really going to be ruined by his own hands?! No... sob, Mom, I miss you! (Luo Bei: Poor kid!)
As one of Harry's diehard fans, Professor Flitwick said unhappily, "Did I do something wrong?" Then he turned to Malfoy. "Because you disrupted classroom discipline, Slytherin loses two points!"
Malfoy despaired. God, someone save me!
Astronomy class: the teacher adjusted his glasses and said, "Mr. Potter's chart of the stars' movements, which I assigned last Wednesday, was by far the most perfect! And..." He looked at the students, and a faint smile actually appeared on his usually dull face. "Some of Harry's calculations on the parchment gave me great inspiration. After consulting several books, I wrote an article that was successfully published in the Daily Prophet!"
The students no longer knew what to say. They could only stare at Harry with their mouths hanging open, all thinking the same thing: I thought he was already amazing, but I never expected him to get even more amazing!
So, another ten points were in the bag!
History of Magic: it had to be said that this was Harry's most hated class! It was boring, lifeless, and utterly devoid of vitality. Even Snape's Potions class did not make Harry hate it this much.
Whenever they entered History of Magic, the students could not help sighing, as if they had suddenly aged years. When sunlight shone into the room, even it seemed to slow down.
In this class, more than half the students sprawled lazily across their desks. Even Harry lacked the energy he showed in other lessons.
During this class, Hermione was the most popular person. Professor Binns only read from his book in a monotonous voice, while Hermione was the only one who listened seriously. Whenever there was something she did not understand, she would immediately stand up and ask a question. To the students who could no longer bear the hollow, tedious lecture, it was like ripples on still water—no less than a traveler in the desert suddenly receiving sweet rain.
In the original story, Hermione had been rather self-righteous at first, but everyone knew why. That sensitive little girl had entered the magical world and only wanted to protect herself with arrogance and cold indifference that kept others at arm's length!
But now, because Harry had been by her side from the moment they entered school, gently... training her, she was not like a hedgehog at all. Instead, she was lively, kind, friendly to others, and had dazzling accomplishments and a beautiful face, like a little princess!
Because of that, she had become the most beloved student aside from Harry!
Defense Against the Dark Arts: this was simply as much of a joke as the South China Sea Arbitration!
Quirrell stammered whenever he spoke and became flustered at the slightest thing. And he wanted to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts? What a joke!
His class was the most disorderly of them all. No one took him seriously. The garlic smell on Quirrell had been discussed by the students for ages, and the red-haired twins said behind his back that Quirrell's turban had to be stuffed full of garlic!
When Harry heard that, he truly broke out in a cold sweat for them! That man was dancing on a knife's edge, while they were dancing on a nuclear bomb!
That was the legendary Dark Lord.
Quirrell had a cowardly personality, but it was precisely because of that that he could be bewitched by the Dark Lord.
Transfiguration: as a woman with Conqueror's Haki and the head of Gryffindor House, her authority was no less imposing than Snape's!
During the first class, Harry and Hermione entered the classroom together and received countless envious and jealous looks. The boys envied Harry, while the girls were jealous of Hermione!
A tabby cat was crouched on the teacher's desk. Harry had originally intended to sit in the back with Hermione, but after seeing the cat, he changed his mind. He pulled Hermione toward the front. Hermione was somewhat puzzled, since they had agreed to sit in the back.
Hermione was about to speak, but Harry gently shook her arm, so she said nothing.
Harry walked up to the tabby cat and bowed. Then they sat in the first row. No one else understood what it meant, but clever Hermione connected it with the class they were about to have and vaguely guessed the answer.
As the students all entered the classroom, the teacher still had not appeared. The students below began getting restless, leaving their seats, throwing notes, talking loudly... The cat sat on the desk and watched it all.
Harry's face twitched. This was truly death by creative stupidity!
Harry and Hermione quietly opened their Transfiguration textbooks and quietly played the handsome young man and pretty young lady.
At some point, a stern woman appeared before the podium. Once the students realized it, they were scared out of their wits!
Damn it, what had I just done?! I have no face left to meet my people!
Professor McGonagall called out the names of every student who had just broken the rules and began ruthlessly deducting points...
The students all had the same thought: What a trap, a massive trap! So Professor McGonagall was the most devious person at Hogwarts!
"Goyle, throwing notes. Gryffindor loses two points!"
"Malfoy, talking. Slytherin loses three points!"
"Marzibell, leaving her seat. Ravenclaw loses three points!"
"Ron, throwing notes. Gryffindor... loses fifteen points!!"
Everyone was stunned. That was far too many points to deduct. The little lions of Gryffindor all glared angrily at Ron, as though he had committed some heinous crime.
Ron shot to his feet and stammered, "Why is it that we were both throwing notes, but I'm losing so many more points?!"
Professor McGonagall said expressionlessly, "Because your note was thrown at me!"
"Pfft." Hermione could not hold it in and burst out laughing. Then she realized it was inappropriate and clamped a hand over her mouth, though her shoulders kept shaking.
After a moment of stunned silence, the other students burst into laughter as well. Ron sat down with his face red.
Professor McGonagall glanced at Hermione, startling her.
Then she looked at Harry. A rare trace of a smile appeared on her stern face. "Only Mr. Potter saw through my Transfiguration, so Gryffindor receives twenty points!"
The little lions all breathed a sigh of relief. Good thing we had Harry!
Although Professor McGonagall was very stern, that did nothing to change the students' love for Transfiguration.
Their first lesson was turning matches into needles. After failing once, Harry succeeded on his second attempt and earned more points for Gryffindor.
Everyone wore indifferent expressions. It was nothing. They were used to it.
How could the glow of fireflies compete with the brilliance of the bright moon?! This was truly a sad story!!
Under Harry's quiet guidance, Hermione succeeded soon afterward as well. However, she believed herself inferior to Harry and practiced it several more times.
The students silently wept in their hearts once more: Why am I not a pretty girl?! I want Prince Harry's personal guidance too!
Luo Bei: I know Professor McGonagall's transformation was not Transfiguration, so there's no need to tell me.
Did you laugh at the part where Professor McGonagall deducted points? I did! (^o^)/
Also, I originally wanted to say something about Hermione, but I'll save it for tomorrow. I believe you'll like Hermione even more after reading it.
