Dungeons & Dragons is a tabletop role-playing game developed by TSR. Its first edition was released in 1974, laying the foundations for modern TRPGs.
Dungeons & Dragons had an enormous impact on tabletop role-playing games (TRPGs) and was hailed as the progenitor of role-playing games.
Many later games of the same type were influenced by its rules.
Many computer role-playing games were built on DND rules. The most influential were works by Black Isle Studios, including the Baldur's Gate series, Planescape: Torment, Neverwinter Nights, and the Icewind Dale series.
DND went through several editions. This book mainly uses the 5R (2024) rules, with very few references to rules from 3R or 5E (2014).
