Anse had already circled the shelter twice with Detect Evil and Good active, and he had found nothing unusual.
"That's a relief." Osborne let out a breath of relief.
"Aren't there two more shelters? Let's go." Anse wanted to finish the inspections quickly so he could head into the city and farm experience.
With his worries settled, Osborne could team up with him without concern. Having a top local thief at his side would make their actions safer and more efficient.
"Let's go." With a wave of his hand, Osborne immediately led him away.
But they did not leave through the door. Instead, they followed a corridor along one side into a pitch-black secret passage that twisted and turned.
A few minutes later, the two passed through a hidden door and entered another, somewhat larger shelter.
This time, Anse did not waste a charge from the True Sight Magic Ring. Each use only lasted ten minutes, and it only had three charges in total.
One casting of Detect Evil and Good could handle the job easily enough, though its detection range was not as far as True Sight.
A moment later, he relaxed and gave Osborne a slight shake of his head.
Osborne immediately beamed with pride. "My efforts over the years weren't wasted after all. See? It came in handy. It's perfectly safe."
"Exactly, exactly," Anse echoed.
Gathering together had its advantages and disadvantages. If Mind Flayers found their way here, everyone could be wiped out in one go.
"What about the last one?" he urged.
"There isn't one. That shelter hasn't been activated yet."
"Is that so? I'm going into the city to hunt Intellect Devourers and Mind Flayers. Want to come?"
