Background
Anse began as Anser Horleywen, whose inherited origins offered a choice between Noble and Sage backgrounds. He selected the Noble path and retained the Human Silver-browed lineage and attributes of the original body 11 7.
He awakened wounded in the Giant Pit after developing his Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer abilities. With the Weave unstable, he relied on innate Mana Casting rather than treating conventional spellcasting as fully dependable 12.
The original body’s parents died during the Baldur’s Gate catastrophe. Anse later recovered their remains from the city and restored them through resurrection, though their return made clear how dramatically he had changed 21 277 399.
His early survival group with Brat and Finn became the foundation of his wider organization. After leaving Baldur’s Gate, he fought slave traders around Silver Scale Bay, built ties with the Harpers, and gained wealth, magical equipment, and public renown through the seizure of the slave ship Conch 25 65 70 71.
Anse subsequently established influence in Durag, developed Horleywen and White Stone Island, and expanded a network of trade routes, teleportation circles, soldiers, officials, and allied Professionals. This political and commercial foundation became the Horley Federation 135 218 220 345.
Appearance
Anse can appear human, half-draconic, or as a full metallic dragon. His draconic traits are characterized by silver scales with a gold sheen, vertical pupils, and an increasingly unnatural presence as his bloodline develops 101 342.
- In human or partial form, his charisma and appearance draw immediate attention and often force him to use disguises to avoid unwanted visitors 108 301.
- His transformed body bears fine, resilient metallic scales and can manifest a dragon’s head, claws, tail, and breath weapons 101 147.
- His Otherworldly Guise and Draconic Transformation produce three pairs of dragon wings, granting extreme aerial agility 235 342.
- In full dragon form, he is a large, slender metallic dragon with a body and tail each nearly ten meters long 342.
- Following ascension, his skin became softer and more human-like despite his dragonkind classification 664.
Personality
Anse is calculating, adaptable, and intensely practical. He weighs risks before accepting bargains, avoids needless fights, and prefers arrangements that create lasting advantages rather than temporary victories 31 185 351.
He is generous toward companions and subordinates when they contribute meaningfully. He repeatedly distributes loot, provides equipment from shared stores, and rewards those who fight under him, while still ensuring that his own position remains secure 56 155 345.
His leadership style is deliberately detached: he sets goals, assigns resources, delegates execution, and inspects outcomes rather than micromanaging every process 249 699. This approach reflects his belief that personal power is the ultimate safeguard against political instability.
Although officially Absolute Neutral, he repeatedly acts against slavers, Mind Flayers, Underdark raiders, and other threats when they endanger his people or interests. His methods are often ruthless, and he does not frame his decisions as moral obligations 7 208 372.

Otherworldly and Defensive Powers
His Arcane Bloodline can manifest spells as supernatural abilities that do not require ordinary casting.
- Otherworldly Guise grants flight, enhanced Armor Class, magical weapon attacks, extra attacks, and temporary damage immunities depending on its planar source 235 684.
- Fizban’s Platinum Shield forms a reactive force barrier around him and later expanded in coverage and duration 527 541.
- Legendary Resistance allows him to resist dangerous effects that would otherwise overcome him 385.
- Rebirth Through Fire allows him to revive even if no ashes remain, choosing a resurrection point within twenty-four hours 648.
