Half-asleep, Anse heard Dice's notification. His heart clenched as though someone had dumped a basin of icy water over his head in the dead of winter, instantly jolting him awake.

He opened his eyes and swept his gaze around. The room was silent, with nothing out of the ordinary. The Arcane Lock was intact, and Alarm had not been triggered.

Maeve lay sprawled beside the pillow, her little belly rising and falling as she slept soundly.

Anse relaxed. He had thought someone had come to assassinate him again.

If Dice had not warned him through its combat check last time, he truly would not have noticed on his own.

Dice had two core functions: the Character Sheet and the log. The latter contained all kinds of records, such as combat, experience, checks, Saving Throws, and so on. Normally, though, it did not affect combat or daily life and rarely popped up this way.

Unless he had encountered danger or was undergoing a major event such as leveling up.

"What happened?"

He lay back down and sent his consciousness into his mind, checking Dice's built-in records.

"This—" Anse's mind stalled for a moment, and he was utterly shocked.

Ever since the Weave had fallen into disorder, the gods had been cut off from their followers. Even the most devout Clerics could no longer receive a response from their deities.

"Even a casual believer like me deserves a god's favor?"

Suppressing the doubts filling his heart, he carefully read through the log. The more he read, the more astonished he became.
