Adventurer Guild, Old Hall.
It was as lively as ever—no, even noisier than the last time He Xi had come looking for Ulag.
The reason was simple.
To these low-ranking adventurers, a string of high-bounty commissions appearing all at once—any single one of them—would be enough to let them go home and lie flat for a good while.

Five hundred Gold Shields represented more than just value. It also represented trouble and danger of equal weight.
So most people were merely gathering around the commission board for the excitement, speculating about what sort of uproar this was that probably had nothing to do with them.
But when they heard that these commissions had actually been completed by the same group of adventurers, the idle chatter of onlookers immediately turned into heated debate.
Who was it?

"Ah, Harrison, hurry up and tell me. I swear I won't tell anyone. You secretly completed them, didn't you? Were you planning to surprise me, then generously give me five hundred Gold Shields?"
"Of course, of course. Chester, you couldn't be more right. Let me tell you another secret."
"Oh?"
"You were secretly born by me too. You should call me Dad."
"If you really toss five hundred Gold Shields at me, I'll call you Mom."
"Fuck off. What do you take me for, a Drow? Calling someone Mom every other word?"
"Pfft."
