Charlie returned to his room and gently closed the door.
He opened the Undetectable Extension Charm trunk and climbed down the ladder.
After Dumbledore had remodeled it a second time, it was no longer the cramped little space it had been before.
The trunk's interior had expanded several times over.
At Charlie's insistence, it had been divided into four areas: a plain, a forest, hills, and a Snow Mountain.
Each area had its own distinct features.
The plain was good for running, the forest was deep and mysterious, the hills rolled gently, and the Snow Mountain was perpetually covered in snow, making it a natural refrigerator.
Norbert's food was stocked on the Snow Mountain.
As soon as Charlie entered the trunk, a huge figure charged over from the hills.
It was Norbert.
The Norwegian Ridgeback was now about as big as Hagrid's Hut.
Its black scales gleamed in the sunlight, and as it charged, it had the imposing presence of a Fire Dragon.
But the moment it saw Charlie, all its bravado vanished.
Norbert stopped in front of Charlie, lowering its enormous head with an ingratiating look in its eyes.
Its tail swished back and forth along the ground.
It was easy to imagine how much of a psychological shadow Charlie had left on it.
"Go on with what you were doing. You don't need to worry about me."
Charlie said this casually, then headed toward the forest.
Storm was over there. It would certainly need to deliver letters once the summer holidays began.
So it was a good idea to let it get used to the surroundings.
Norbert perked up, beat its wings, and flew toward the Snow Mountain.
It dug around in a corner of the mountain for a while, then soon returned with a huge chunk of
