A total of 24,098 human soldiers had been deployed, with 8,902 still alive. The staggering casualty ratio was horrifying.

Frank pulled his Plasma Blade from a Star Alliance warrior's head. His squad had run out of ammunition and could only rely on Plasma Blades and weapons taken from Star Alliance soldiers.

After they wiped out one wave, hurried footsteps came from nearby. They had already penetrated deep into the Star Alliance fortress.

Gunfire, explosions, and screams rang out without end. Frank felt as if he had returned to Afghanistan, to the night he had been sent on that suicide mission.

The difference was that Afghanistan had been shrouded in darkness, and he had been unable to see anything. Now, the surroundings were brightly lit, but he had no idea how many enemies remained or how far he still had to go.

Still, he had long since grown accustomed to this situation.

Of the ten-man squad, only four remained. He knew he had to keep moving forward.

He removed the dog tags from a fallen comrade beside him and advanced deeper into the base.

Harry had personally built all ten Virtual Reality chambers. If someone died inside one, their nervous system would suffer a tremendous shock. If they sustained such shocks repeatedly within a short period, it would cause irreversible damage to their consciousness and nerves.

After these soldiers "died" on the battlefield, their bodies convulsed violently. The virtual chambers activated emergency medical measures, and once their vital signs stabilized, they were transferred to nearby medical pods for recovery.
