After Johnson left the room, the two of them talked as they walked down the road.
No matter how this turned out, he was definitely going to prison this time. He needed to make the most of his time and have a heart-to-heart with his daughter.
"You know, I'd always looked forward to meeting you. Even when you were just a tiny life in your mother's womb, I kept wondering what kind of person you would become."
When Johnson spoke of this, he looked delighted, as though he were reliving the emotions he had felt upon learning that he would become a father.
Unlike her usual lively self, Skye merely listened. This was the first time she had experienced real familial affection—taking a walk down the street with her father.
"You're truly remarkable."
Johnson stopped before the escort team and looked solemnly at Skye.
As an orphan, she had drifted through foster homes, constantly being taken in and then abandoned. If it had only happened once or twice, Skye could have lied to herself and said that she simply had not tried hard enough to fit in.
But the last time Skye had been adopted, she had truly wanted to find herself a home—unfortunately, that family had thrown her out because she broke a cup.
Growing up in such an environment, Skye had still managed to remain optimistic. That was indeed admirable.
"I'm grateful that I had the chance to get to know you." Johnson smiled kindly.
The sincere affirmation and encouragement of her biological father meant a great deal to Skye. She had drifted through society for over twenty years and had barely ever had a stable relationship. Although Coulson and the Osborn Group had both treated her well, recognition from her real family meant even more to her.
