Captain America was barely holding on. Ikaris's abilities were simply too powerful for him.
"Mortals, you should not interfere with our mission." Ikaris pinned Steve down with his heat vision.
Steve could only hide behind his shield, failing to notice that Ikaris had already closed in and kicked him away.
The shield could indeed withstand lasers, but in return, Steve could not get a good read on his opponent's position. He had been struck several times in a row like this.
Worst of all, Ikaris was deliberately forcing him toward the damaged breach. If this continued, he would fall out—this was seven hundred kilometers above the ground. Whether he could survive another parachute-free jump was anyone's guess.
"That's it? You call yourselves gods? Why not tell me what your mission is?" Steve rose from the rubble, panting heavily. Though the situation was dire, his presence remained undiminished.
"Hmph, the true god is about to appear. You will soon..." Halfway through his sentence, Ikaris turned his head toward the other side.
Boom!
Even amid the deafening chaos, the gunshot was still thunderous, like lightning splitting the sky!
A bullet came from an enemy a thousand meters away, piercing straight through both the upper and lower sections of the damaged Ring. If it had landed, it might have taken this Eternal's life, but he had noticed the sniper before the shot was fired and moved away in time.
"Your skills slipping? You still missed?" Curtis teased.
Frank sounded helpless. "Quit messing around. He noticed us in advance—take cover!"
The battlefield was in orbit, seven hundred kilometers above Earth. Groups of Sparta Transport Ships were not hard to spot.
Golden lasers immediately destroyed the Transport Ships—but every Spartan had a Flight Module on their back, so they did not rely on transport planes.
