This time, he dreamed of his childhood. Back then, he had still lived with the tribe. His parents were among the few doctors in Latveria, providing free medical aid to the tribe. With their help, the tribe had barely escaped the Baron's tyranny without being tortured to death by disease and hunger.
His mother was a Gypsy. To find a way to shelter the tribe, she often studied the black magic in her inherited books, hoping to find a means of fighting the Baron.
On one pitch-black night, the black magic answered her.
His mother made a wish to the demons, hoping for a small piece of land where the tribe could develop. The demons eerily accepted her request and possessed her body to fulfill her wish.
The possessed woman charged into a town and slaughtered all of the Baron's soldiers. With a sinister laugh, the demons told her that her wish had been granted—the Baron's people on that land had all been killed.
But it also took sufficient payment: the demons claimed the souls of every child in the village.
When the woman awoke, she had no time to cry or grieve before the furious villagers surrounded her and beat her to death.
Her mother's attack on the Baron was bound to bring retaliation sooner or later. Before the grave, the tribespeople complained about his mother, believing that she had brought them misfortune, and planned to abandon the father and son and flee.
Four-year-old Victor furiously berated those ungrateful people. For all these years, his parents had saved them from sickness and pain without ever asking for anything in return!
