Why Are You So Skilled?

The World Security Council feared the power Lu Yifang had displayed, but they still trusted Fury to some extent. If Fury said Lu Yifang was currently at S.H.I.E.L.D. and completely under control, then to them, it was like a rogue nuclear warhead being safely stored away—they would undoubtedly feel much more at ease.

"This is to protect Lu Yifang, and also to protect others," Fury said earnestly.

"But what do you plan to do next? You can't keep Yifang trapped in S.H.I.E.L.D. forever. He's a person, not a strategic nuclear warhead," Professor X pressed.

"I know that, of course. In fact, I've already arranged the next steps. Take a look at this." Fury handed another document to Professor X.

Professor X took the document. On its cover, the words "Anti-Hulk Defense Plan" were written in bold. Curious, Professor X focused his mind and opened the file.

"Professor X, the Abomination is dead, but the Hulk, who is even more terrifying than the Abomination, still exists. I think you have some understanding of the Hulk by now—he's a monster that simply cannot be killed by conventional means," Fury began to explain as he watched Professor X flip through the file.

"Although, as far as I know, Doctor Banner, the Hulk's host, is a good man, unfortunately, he can't control the Hulk at all. We have no intention of provoking this monster, but that doesn't mean others won't try. And who knows when he might turn into a disaster rampaging through the city again? S.H.I.E.L.D.'s duty is to protect world peace, so for this potential scenario, I plan to form an emergency response team specifically to deal with the Hulk."

"And the core of this emergency team is Yifang," Professor X said, closing the file and looking up.

"Exactly!" Fury nodded.

"Although the Hulk is immensely strong and virtually indestructible, you saw how completely he was suppressed in front of Lu Yifang."

"So you think this is the best solution," Professor X said calmly, looking at Fury.

"It's a win-win plan," Fury stated his thoughts. "This way, the threat of the Hulk will be minimized. And for the World Security Council, if they see a powerful mutant using his abilities to protect global security, they won't have to lose sleep worrying."

"What do you think?" Fury stared at Professor X, waiting for his response.

"Before I answer, I have one more question for you," Professor X said, his expression turning serious instead of immediately giving his opinion.

"You're just an ordinary human. Aren't you afraid of Yifang's power?" As he spoke, Professor X had already secretly mobilized his mental power, monitoring all of Fury's reactions. Under Professor X's formidable mental power, no one could deceive him.

Hearing Professor X's question, Fury paused for a moment, then laughed.

"I've been Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. for many years. Though I'm not as old as you, my experiences are certainly no less. I've seen the most evil ordinary humans, and I've seen kind mutants like you. So I understand one thing deeply: power is never inherently good or bad. Even a dangerous nuclear bomb, if used properly, can kill Nazis and advance world peace. That has always been my belief!

So I'm willing to help Lu Yifang, because I believe his power can be used to protect the world, and I have the confidence to guide him," Fury said confidently.

"I see." Hearing this, Professor X nodded in satisfaction, essentially acknowledging Fury's words.

As for the plan itself, Professor X couldn't find any flaws. He had to admit, when it came to dealing with the World Security Council, Fury was truly experienced.

"Wait!" As this thought flashed through his mind, Professor X's expression stiffened. He seemed to have overlooked something.

"You want Lu Yifang to stay at S.H.I.E.L.D." Just now, Fury had bombarded him with a pile of information and then muddled him with talk of protecting world peace, which had slowed Professor X's reaction.

Now that he had come to his senses, Professor X realized: Damn it, wasn't this guy still trying to poach my people in a roundabout way?

"I don't approve," Professor X refused decisively.

Seeing this, Fury couldn't help but sigh inwardly. They say bald people are clever, and it was true—this old, bald-headed man had caught on so quickly. This was going to be a tough nut to crack.

But despite thinking this, Fury kept a straight face, showing a puzzled expression. "Why?"

"Why? Obviously, I..." Cough, cough. Professor X coughed twice. He wanted to say, "Obviously, I found him first, I brought him to the school."

But in the end, Professor X forced himself to swallow those words. He wasn't some little girl; he knew such talk was useless.

But that didn't mean he would compromise. Lu Yifang was a Level 5 mutant! Damn it, was it easy for mutants to produce a Level 5 mutant? It was even harder to produce one who was mentally stable. He was counting on this kid to shoulder the great responsibility of mutant revival in the future, to study for the rise of mutants!

Did Fury think mutants were a vegetable patch, letting him just waltz in and pluck whatever he wanted?

If it were Old Magneto here instead of Professor X, with his hot temper, he would probably have turned around, walked out, and gone to blow up S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Sky Carrier.

World, feel the pain!! —by an angry Old Magneto

And although he knew Nick Fury's intentions, Professor X opened his mouth to refute Fury's so-called win-win excuse but found he couldn't come up with a good counterargument.

This made Professor X's gaze at Fury even more intense. He never expected this "Baldy" to have not only a black face but an even blacker heart. Why was he so skilled at poaching? Just how many times had he done this, you bastard!

"I'm doing this to..."

"Spare me the excuses." Professor X cut Fury off. He knew Fury had the upper hand in terms of logic, so Professor X simply didn't want to argue with him anymore. He decided to lay his cards on the table.

"Yifang is... special. The mutants will never give up on that child."

Hearing Professor X's resolute words, Fury wasn't angry. Instead, a slight smile curled at the corner of his mouth.

Damn it, of course, I knew you, Professor X, would be tough to deal with. But for this moment, I spent all last night preparing emergency plans. After throwing down so many cards, I finally know your bottom line.

"Professor X, given your position, I can understand your stance. But as I said clearly just now, S.H.I.E.L.D. will never give up on that young man either," Fury said, noticing that Professor X's gaze was growing colder and colder.

This made the hairs on the back of Fury's neck stand on end. Even though he was now the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., his years as a spy had honed his sense of danger. The man before him was a V4+ Psychic-type mutant. Professor X was only restraining himself for now, but if he wanted to, he could invade and modify Fury's brain in an instant.

Fury knew this better than anyone. Now that he had figured out Professor X's bottom line, if he still pushed further, he would be asking for death.

Swallowing his saliva, Fury changed his tone. "That said, I do have a truly win-win idea that can satisfy both your demands and mine. Professor, would you like to hear it?"

"Let's hear it!" Hearing Fury's words, Professor X broke into a smile again. The sense of crisis Fury had just felt vanished instantly, as if it had never been there at all.

You think you're the only one who can play games?
