Early in the morning, Tony lay on his side atop the giant donut logo above the donut shop, eating a donut as he enjoyed the breeze and watched the sunrise.

"Friend up there, could you come down for a moment?" a voice called out.

Tony took off his sunglasses and looked down, spotting a one-eyed man in a black leather jacket, black boots, and a black eyepatch staring up at him with a dark expression.

"Nick Fury!" Fury's identity as the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. was highly secretive, but only relatively speaking.

Though the two had met less often in recent years, Tony clearly remembered that when he was young, this man had often come to his home looking for his father, Howard Stark.

"Let's talk." Fury waved a hand and strode into the donut shop.

"Coulson told me you seem to be putting together some kind of Avengers association, and that I'm also under consideration." Tony dropped into a seat and spoke at once.

"Let me correct you. It's the Avengers. The abbreviation should be Avenger, not what you said. Of course, the name hasn't been finalized yet, but it definitely isn't that." Fury tapped on the table.

"Oh, fine. Let's say I remembered it wrong." Tony spread his hands. "But honestly, I have zero interest in your little Superman boys' club."

"You seem to have the wrong idea. I'm not here about that, Tony. I'm here to save you." Fury fixed Tony with his one eye, speaking with utter seriousness.

"Save me? Are you joking? Do I really look that bad right now?" Tony said with a laugh.

"Oh, do you?" Fury said, then suddenly snapped his fingers.

"Sir, I've cleared away all the bystanders nearby. No one will disturb you," came the sultry voice of a woman Tony
