At the mention of her mother, Karin's mood sank. Karin's mother had been bitten to death by people from the Grass Village because of her body's ability to heal others.
If Orochimaru had not taken her away, Karin's fate would not have been any better.
Although she had escaped the wolf's den only to enter the snake pit, at least Orochimaru would not treat Karin as a cheap, disposable sacrifice.
In Orochimaru's organization, Karin had been protected.
Seeing Karin's low spirits, Suigetsu comforted her. "Maybe this was for your protection. The Uzumaki Clan was exterminated during the Ninja World War because of their powerful Sealing Technique and bloodline."
"If people from other ninja villages learned of your bloodline, they would capture you at any cost."
Karin nodded.
Suigetsu sighed. "It would be nice if Orochimaru were still around. He probably knew a lot about the Uzumaki Clan."
Sasuke stopped Suigetsu. "Enough. We can investigate the Uzumaki Clan later. Let's continue searching for information on Itachi."
"Alright!"
Everyone left the area and continued searching for information on the Akatsuki.
Sasuke thought of Naruto. The current Naruto no longer gave Sasuke the same feeling as before.
Naive, reckless, loyal, and righteous.
Now he had started using his brain.
The savage had gained wisdom. He was a Homo sapiens now!
Sasuke felt that Naruto was not Naruto, but only Orochimaru could perform something like Body Possession.
Yet Sasuke could find no evidence proving that Naruto was not Naruto.
He shook his head. Naruto's affairs had nothing to do with him anymore.
He was now merely an avenger, one seeking revenge against Itachi.
The place where Kakashi and the others regrouped was where Deidara and Sasuke had fought.
The Ninja Hounds sniffed the surrounding scents while Kakashi examined the battle traces nearby.
