He moved his fingers, then tried to lift his arm. It still felt like a struggle, but he was much better than when he'd first woken up.
Just then, a sound from the doorway made Ye Chen turn his head slightly. The old woman who had fed him earlier stepped into the room and saw that his eyes were open.
"You're awake? Are you feeling any better?" The old woman smiled at Ye Chen, then sat beside his bed. "Would you like something to eat? Just tell Grandma, and I'll make you something."
Ye Chen gave a slight shake of his head. "I... what happened to me? Where am I?" He'd finally regained enough strength to speak. Though weak, he still managed to voice his questions.
"You were badly hurt. My old man found you a few days ago below a cliff. You were lying in the snow, and they say you were barely breathing. It gave my old man quite a fright."
"My old man carried you home. We couldn't afford a doctor, so all we could do was leave it to fate. But thankfully, you finally woke up. By the way, child, how did you fall from such a high cliff?"
The old woman's eyes were full of concern. She looked at Ye Chen as if he were her own child.
Ye Chen didn't notice the old woman's expression. He was trying to recall what had happened to him, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't remember anything.
"Child, what's your name?" Seeing that Ye Chen wasn't answering, the old woman thought he didn't want to respond, so she asked again.
