After entering the baozi shop, the young woman asked Ye Chen to sit down while she went to the kitchen. Before long, she came out carrying two steaming baskets of baozi.
"There are only a few leftover baozi, so I hope you don't mind making do, young man." The young woman smiled as she sat down at the table. "Would you like some wine to warm you up?"
"This... doesn't seem right. You've already given me baozi, and now you're offering me wine too." Ye Chen wanted a drink, but felt a little embarrassed.
"What's the big deal? It's only a pot of wine." The young woman smiled, then got up and walked to the counter. She picked up a pot of wine, but after a moment's thought, went back into the kitchen.
Ye Chen waited a while. At last, the young woman came out of the kitchen carrying a plate of braised beef. She went to the counter to pick up the wine, then sat down beside Ye Chen's table again.
"My shop is small, so this is all I have to offer. I hope you won't mind, young man." The young woman smiled as she set the braised beef on the table.
"I wouldn't dream of it. You've already been kind enough to take me in, and now you're treating me to such good food and wine. I'm deeply grateful." As he spoke, Ye Chen picked up a baozi.
He had no idea what the filling was, but the baozi smelled delicious. His appetite stirred, and he couldn't help stuffing it into his mouth, taking a bite that swallowed up more than half.
"Delicious! But what's the filling? The meat doesn't seem like any kind I've ever tasted." Ye Chen chewed, finding the baozi absolutely delicious.
"It's pork.
