The Suppression Seal was incredibly wondrous. From a distance, it blazed with golden light so bright that no one dared open their eyes. But when Tang Sanzang approached, he found that the light was no longer so dazzling.
At that moment, the golden light shining from the seal even seemed gentle to Tang Sanzang. As he looked at it, he sensed boundless Zen within it.
He even wanted to sit beside the seal and meditate while reciting scriptures. He felt that it was easier to enter a state of deep meditation here, and that the merit he accumulated from chanting was far greater than usual.
In the end, however, Tang Sanzang did not do so. He knew the seal belonged to Buddha, so it naturally held profound Zen. But he could not obtain the true scriptures through Zen alone, so he abandoned the idea.
Tang Sanzang reached out with his right hand. For some reason, it trembled slightly. Perhaps the fact that no one was with him made him fear what had yet to happen.
But at last, Tang Sanzang placed his hand on the Suppression Seal. A warmth spread from it, which he found rather pleasant. Then he gave it a sharp tug, and the seal came right off.
A rumble suddenly echoed from deep within the mountain. The sound frightened Tang Sanzang. Nervously, he looked down from the mountaintop and saw rocks sliding down the mountainside one after another.
"Master, hurry down! I'm about to break out of the mountain. Don't get hurt!" Sun Wukong's voice came from beneath the mountain. Tang Sanzang hurried toward the path down.
