When he had walked nearly halfway along the Yellow Springs Road, Ye Chen still hadn't heard a sound from behind him. He even began to wonder if the monkey was trying to trick him.

Ye Chen was about to turn around, but he instantly remembered Sun Wukong's warning. He shuddered and forced himself to resist the urge to look back.
"Phew, that was close." Ye Chen let out a long breath. "I really shouldn't have gotten distracted just now. I almost broke the rule the monkey set."
"Ye Chen." Just as Ye Chen came back to his senses, a voice suddenly called to him from behind. It sounded familiar, and after thinking it over, Ye Chen realized it was the voice of that Daoist.
"Yah!" Ye Chen was just about to turn around, but Sun Wukong seemed to notice something was wrong. He turned, roared, and stared at Ye Chen before looking behind him. "Who dares to dig around on my turf?!"
The voice behind Ye Chen abruptly vanished, as if it had never appeared at all. But Ye Chen's thoughts roiled. He hadn't expected the voice behind him to be able to imitate that Daoist.
