After pondering for a moment, Yao Yun slowly shook his head.
"Let's forget it."
"Hm? Why? Don't you want to go home? Your family is waiting for you to return and rally them." Ye Chen was utterly confused.
"I'm afraid that if I take over your body, I might do something wrong without meaning to. Let's forget it." Yao Yun declined Ye Chen's kind offer and slowly shook his head.
"Uh, so you plan to stay in my head forever?"
"There's no other choice. The statue is sealed inside that book, so wherever the book is, I have to be there too. If I try to force my way out of you, I'm afraid my body and spirit will shatter the very next second."
"Well, that really is a problem."
Ye Chen had only managed to undo one layer of the book's seal. He had no idea how many mysteries remained.
It seemed he would have to fully master the Wordless Heavenly Book before he could free Yao Yun.
"Then there's no other way. You'll have to come with me to fetch the scriptures. Hey, that's perfect—you can come with me and demand an explanation from Tathagata."
After hearing what Yao Yun had said, Ye Chen had formed a new opinion of these outwardly righteous Buddhist monks. As far as he was concerned, there were plenty of people in the temples who only pretended to be compassionate.
Anyway, his purpose in going was simply to complete the task the system had given him. He had absolutely no interest in Buddhist scriptures, let alone Buddhist culture.
But Tathagata had apparently once saved his life. Would it be inappropriate to bring Yao Yun, a ticking time bomb, right to Tathagata's doorstep? It felt a little like biting the hand that fed him.
