The king of Baoxiang Kingdom watched it all and treated them as saints. He had a great feast prepared for them, then gave them their travel permit, and Goku and the others went on their way.
As they headed west, Goku sent Bajie off to patrol the mountain. Bajie grumbled under his breath, complaining about Goku. Just then, a Taoist came along the roadside and stopped beside him.
"Master, could you tell me how to get to Lotus Cave?"
"We're strangers here, so we don't know either," said Bajie.
The Taoist smiled and walked away, muttering as he went, "I hear there are treasures in Lotus Cave..."
When Bajie heard that, he approached with a fawning smile. "Taoist, I'll travel with you. We might as well keep each other company. What do you say?"
The Taoist agreed, though a wicked smile tugged at the corner of his mouth.
When they reached a certain spot, the Taoist said, "Master, look. Lotus Cave is just ahead."
Hearing there were treasures inside, Bajie didn't spare a thought for traps. He plunged straight in.
Inside, the cave was pitch-black. Suddenly, flames flared up and a net appeared overhead, trapping Bajie. He immediately realized he'd fallen into a trap and struggled to fight back.
But the net was the Immortal Binding Rope.
