Sun Wukong had someone bring him a sharp ox horn, then cut open his belly. More than a dozen hearts tumbled out, including a charming heart, a kind heart, a loving heart, and others—but not a black one.
The king grew more and more frightened as he listened, and hurriedly told Sun Wukong to put them away.
Sun Wukong returned to his original form and said to the king, "We monks are all good-hearted, unlike Taoists, whose insides are full of black hearts. If Your Majesty wants a black heart for his medicine, I can capture that old Taoist and dig his out."
Seeing that it was Sun Wukong, the Great Sage who had caused Havoc in Heaven, the old Taoist hurried to his feet, mounted a cloud, and fled.
But Sun Wukong wasn't about to let him escape. He caught up on his Flying Nimbus and blocked the old Taoist's way. With no other choice, the old Taoist took out his weapon and fought Sun Wukong.
Sun Wukong leaned forward and charged. The instant his toes touched the ground, he shot forward like an arrow. A golden-red Golden Cudgel appeared silently in his hand, and his eyes blazed with color.
A brilliant golden-red light burst forth, striking awe into everyone present.
At the same moment Sun Wukong launched his attack, the old Taoist moved too. He was incredibly fast—even faster than Sun Wukong. With a flicker, he was already behind him.
A deafening roar rang out as the old Taoist attacked Sun Wukong first. His seemingly scrawny body surged forward. He planted his right foot heavily on the ground and flew toward Sun Wukong.
