Rashomon was an extremely high-level defensive jutsu. Sakon had used it near the end of Part I. Even with only one gate, its defensive power had been formidable enough to stop Kiba's Super A-rank jutsu, Fang Wolf Fang. In Part II, when Naruto had become the Four-Tails and lost consciousness, Orochimaru had summoned three gates of Rashomon to fend him off. However, the jutsu consumed a tremendous amount of Chakra, so not just anyone could use it. Naruto's Tailed Beast Bomb had wiped out all three gates of Triple Rashomon in a single blast. And even Triple Rashomon wasn't the limit. Later in the story, when the First Hokage recalled his battle with Madara Uchiha, he mentioned using Rashomon. At the time, he had summoned Fivefold Rashomon to block the Nine-Tails' Tailed Beast Bomb. Its defensive power was even greater than Orochimaru's Triple Rashomon.
"The one thing I'm most lacking right now is a defensive jutsu. Rashomon couldn't have come at a better time." Just because Naruto had easily smashed Orochimaru's Triple Rashomon in the Original Story didn't mean the jutsu was worthless. That would be a huge mistake! Chen was so excited by the sudden windfall of Points that he could barely speak coherently. "Looks like I'm destined to be the protagonist. I just happened to wander around and find this place. Not only can I learn several powerful jutsu, I got a huge pile of Points too. This is awesome! Haha~~"

"Secret Technique: Shadow Snake Hand." After studying it, Chen followed the instructions and used Shadow Snake Hand. His arm instantly transformed into a snake, which opened its jaws and lunged at a specimen jar on a shelf in the distance. It smashed through the jar, then recoiled and turned back into his normal arm.
Chen really was a genius. He'd only needed to study the jutsu a little before he could use it. They said talent was one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent hard work, but sometimes that one percent of inspiration mattered far more than the ninety-nine percent of hard work.
