Tang Sanzang felt that if this continued, he would only exhaust himself without so much as scratching the monster.
His aura changed. The light around him shifted from gold to fiery red, as if he were engulfed in flames. His golden armor faded away, and his muscles bulged again, swelling even larger.
His entire body doubled in size, and a layer of fiery red armor appeared around him, encasing him. His long hair turned red, making him look almost bewitching.
Yet his eyes remained golden, which somehow didn't look out of place—instead, they gave him an even more sacred air.
Flames also spread across the spear in his hands, making it difficult for anyone to approach.
Tang Sanzang darted toward the monster. Wherever he passed, flames blazed, leaving not a blade of grass standing.
The monster wasn't about to take that lying down. He retreated rapidly, swinging his spear as he went and attacking Tang Sanzang.
"Clang, clang, clang—"
Only the clashing of weapons could be heard; their figures were impossible to make out. They were moving far too fast. All that could be seen were a fiery red blur and a dark green one, constantly shifting places.
Suddenly, the monster accelerated and flashed behind Tang Sanzang, thrusting his spear at his back.
The blow tore through Tang Sanzang's armor, leaving a long, jagged wound from his shoulder to his waist. It looked almost as if it were gloating. Blood poured from Tang Sanzang's back.
Enduring the pain, Tang Sanzang spun around and swung his spear at the monster's arms. But the dragon armor was simply too hard. The flaming spear left only the faintest marks on the monster.
Tang Sanzang refused to accept such a result. He kept straining his arm, pressing down hard, while silently reciting an incantation.
