The demon laughed, stroking his beard and shaking his head. "Hahaha, I can hardly call myself a senior. I've simply lived a little longer than you have."
Then the demon spotted the incense they had used and asked Ye Chen, "That incense of yours is meant to awaken demons, isn't it? I didn't expect it to wake me, too. I suppose I must be a demon as well."
Lan Guangxian and the others listened to the demon's words, sensing that there was more to them than met the eye. They wondered if perhaps he wasn't a demon after all—and what else he might be.

"Well, that's a long story," the demon said. "I was originally a Thousand Year Vine Immortal, but back when I was in the Heavenly Court, I fell into this sorry state while trying to save a friend. This is what I've become!"
