The Captured Konan

"Want to know why?" Chen's lips curled into a mocking smile as he glanced playfully at Hanzō. His aged face couldn't hide the disbelief in Hanzō's eyes.

Even now, he refused to believe that his most trusted weapon—his poison—had no effect on the four of them.

"Maybe it hasn't been long enough. Wait... wait a little longer." Clinging to a desperate hope, Hanzō warily guarded against a sudden attack from Uchiha Chen, quietly expecting his poison gas to take effect.

The outcome was clearly doomed to failure. No matter how hard he racked his brains, Hanzō couldn't figure out why his poison had no effect on the four of them.

"Could it be because of what they ate earlier?" Hanzō suddenly had a flash of inspiration as he recalled Uchiha Chen's strange actions.

Then he remembered Konan making a swallowing motion after taking what he had handed her. It wasn't hard to guess that they had eaten something.

At a time like this, Hanzō couldn't think of anything they might have taken besides an antidote.

"So that's it... You've already developed an antidote!" Hanzō gritted his teeth and glared at Uchiha Chen.

He felt like a monkey being toyed with, putting on a whole performance by himself while they simply watched it as a joke.

Unfortunately, even knowing all this, Hanzō still didn't have the courage to face Uchiha Chen head-on.

After all, Chen had already countered his strongest move, and his most trusted poison gas was useless against him.
