The Man Had Disappeared

Chen's expression turned strange when he heard the name. After all, this man was clearly the head of the Wise Family.

Just last night, Chen had torn down one of the family's branch compounds. Yet first thing the next morning, they were treating him like an honored guest. Even Uchiha Chen found that awkward.

Without saying much, Chen handed the man a bank draft and then vanished before their eyes.

Chen had no intention of causing trouble for the Wise Family as his next move. Their clan head had already shown himself to be so obsequious.

After asking around, Chen learned that the clan head, Gan Feng, was different from the other members of the Wise Family. Perhaps the rest of the family really were wise.

But Gan Feng was different. As the Miko's right-hand man, he was deeply respected in the Land of Demons and enjoyed an unusually high reputation. He had never done anything cruel or evil.

Uchiha Chen wasn't a good person, but he wasn't in the habit of killing indiscriminately, either. Especially when someone was decent, Chen wouldn't take out his personal grievances on an innocent bystander.

After roughly figuring out why they were looking for him, Chen decided he would take a look at the demon in the Land of Demons. That didn't mean he would help the country do anything about it, though. He had no intention of letting the Land of Demons use him as a weapon.

If they wanted him to agree to deal with the demon, they would have to show him what they were willing to pay.
