Chen's Provocation

"It's you!" Madara Uchiha heard Chen's words and shot Black Zetsu a vicious look.

"It wasn't me!" Black Zetsu froze, alarm bells ringing in his mind. Madara had already grown suspicious of him, and now Chen had slandered him on top of that. Even if he tried to clear his name, he probably wouldn't get the chance.

Chen certainly wasn't going to let him explain so easily. Black Zetsu was in a real bind now—he could deny it all he wanted, but it would still look like he was guilty.

"I see!" Madara wasn't listening to a word of explanation now. Once the stubborn Madara made up his mind about something, he would never listen to anyone else's opinion, even if he was wrong.

But that was just who Madara was. It was precisely this trait that had allowed him to rise, step by step, until he became a figure revered as the Ninja World's God. His stubbornness was what had enabled him to grow stronger at every turn.
