"Was he concerned about me?" Once she had come to a stop, Shion looked at Uchiha Chen in surprise, her eyes filled with complicated emotions.

Shion had complicated feelings about the man before her. She didn't know whether she should call him her brother or her father. In her fluster, she hurriedly took a portrait from her arms and carefully compared it with Uchiha Chen.

She looked at the portrait, then at the man before her. To her surprise, it seemed that time had left no trace on his face.

The portrait had been drawn more than ten years ago. His face in it was so young, yet it was exactly the same as the face of the man before her.

There was no mistaking it. The man before her was almost certainly the one her mother, Miroku, had thought of constantly.

"You..." Shion parted her lips, not knowing what to say.

Uchiha Chen, too, watched Shion with complicated feelings. He didn't know why he'd blurted out a warning to be careful as if compelled by some unseen force.

The only thing he knew was that he couldn't bear to see this girl fall, even though this was the first day they'd met.

For some reason, he felt a strange emotion stirring inside him. What is going on? Uchiha Chen furrowed his brow and gently pressed a hand to his chest.

What is going on? Why—why is my heart beating so fast? Why do I feel that the person before me...

"Who are you?" Uchiha Chen frowned. He'd meant to be stern and act like a stranger, but in the end, he couldn't bring himself to do it. He merely asked softly.

Although Shion had complicated feelings as she looked at Uchiha Chen, joy and anticipation still outweighed everything else.
