Professor X stared grimly at the scene before him. Even Cyclops and Storm's attacks had no effect on the White Devil—instead, they were continuously supplying him with energy. That meant there was only one person among them who could stop him now.
Using telepathy to enter Phoenix's mind, Professor X said to her:
"Jean, unleash your power. Don't be afraid of it. Use your power to defeat the White Devil!"
Phoenix's eyes gradually turned crimson, and her body slowly rose into the air. The Phoenix Force, born from the primordial universe, began to awaken within her. Flames that could break down all things, embodying life and emotion, blazed around her!
The surrounding matter was caught in the Phoenix Force's wake and rapidly disintegrated. The Phoenix Force was powerful enough to break down any kind of matter!
Even the powerful White Devil was no exception; his body began to break down as well!
For the first time, the White Devil could no longer ignore what was happening. He turned to look at Phoenix!
Seeing this, the X-Men's confidence soared. Just like Apocalypse before him, the White Devil would be reduced to ashes before Jean!
Su Mu turned around and saw Jean Grey, the Phoenix Force within her gradually awakening.
It was clear that level-four Energy Absorption wasn't enough to counter the Phoenix Force's ability to break down matter. His body was slowly disintegrating, and the longer it went on, the faster it happened.
But Su Mu wasn't worried. He gave Jean Grey a brilliant smile, then pointed at her with his index finger. A terrifying Black-Red Singularity formed in an instant and shot toward her!
The Black-Red Singularity tore through everything in its path, surging toward Jean with unstoppable force!
Faced with such a powerful attack, Phoenix could no longer afford to ignore Su Mu. She focused all her power on the Black-Red Singularity before her!
The Black-Red Singularity, comparable to a small supernova, began to dissipate rapidly. It vanished completely before it could even reach her!
The X-Men's confidence soared at the sight, but in the next moment, the smiles on their faces froze!
The instant the Black-Red Singularity disappeared, the White Devil vanished from where he stood. No one knew when he'd moved, but now he was right in front of Jean, throwing a punch!
Boom!
Black-red lightning erupted between them as the Phoenix Force's telekinesis collided with Black Flash. The ground shattered, and the immense shockwave drove it down rapidly, until a huge crater formed!
The blast was so powerful that even Professor X, far away, was caught in it. But a figure rushed past, whisking everyone to safety.
Quicksilver brought the other X-Men over and set Professor X, Storm, and Cyclops down somewhere safe. Only then did he take off his goggles, look toward the two combatants in the distance, and exclaim:
"Holy shit!"
Su Mu wasn't surprised that Phoenix had stopped one Black Flash. If she couldn't, then she wouldn't be the Phoenix Force!
Besides, the reason he'd used Black Flash was simply to enter the zone.
Once in the zone, his energy, Cursed Energy, and physical coordination all reached their peak, bringing him to 120% of his usual capacity!
He landed another Black Flash on Phoenix's telekinetic shield. The amplified blow was more than the not-yet-fully-awakened Phoenix could withstand!
A shrill cracking sound rang out as the Black Flash struck a fissure in the telekinetic shield. Su Mu then opened his fist into a palm, and a black singularity formed rapidly in it. The Black-Red Singularity, comparable to a small supernova, shattered the shield in an instant and shot toward Phoenix!
At such close range, Phoenix couldn't completely break down the Black-Red Singularity. It was about to hit her!
Just then, Wolverine used Cyclops's optic beam and Storm's tempest to propel himself forward, speeding up and darting in front of Phoenix!
He wanted to protect her from the Black-Red Singularity's impact!
But even with his Adamantium Alloy, he couldn't withstand the greatly diminished Black-Red Singularity. It struck him and sent him flying. He crashed into Phoenix behind him, then smashed through building after building amid the sound of breaking bones, disappearing beneath layers of rubble!
"No!"
Cyclops roared. How had victory seemed within reach just moments ago, only for them to end up in such a dire situation?
Even with Wolverine as a shield, Phoenix—whose body was only human—would have little chance of surviving an attack that terrifying!
He unleashed an enormous, thick optic beam, far more powerful than usual, but it was useless all the same.
The optic beam was completely absorbed as soon as it neared the White Devil!
Looking at the many X-Men before him, Su Mu grew more and more delighted. He raised his palm toward them, thinking of a move from an anime he'd loved in his previous life:
"Almighty Push!"
Reverse Cursed Technique "Red" overloaded once more. Amid black-red lightning that lashed wildly in every direction, an unprecedented, terrifying repulsive force surged outward from Su Mu at incredible speed!
The force annihilated everything in its path. In the blink of an eye, all that remained for thousands of meters around him was a field of ruins!
Even Su Mu felt a hint of strain from that attack. He'd used up nearly half his energy, so five Arc Reactors flew out of his backpack and orbited him slowly. He absorbed their abundant energy, and his reserves quickly recovered.
Ignoring the X-Men in the distance, whose fates were unknown, Su Mu walked slowly toward his target.
After casually taking out dozens of First Generation Sentinel Robots, he strolled toward the White House with his hands in his pockets, entirely unhurried.
As he went, he sensed prying eyes on him more than once. He flashed a brilliant smile toward the familiar direction of the surveillance satellites, then continued on.
The White House had already been badly damaged by the battle. Even the poor president had been buried beneath chunks of stone.
When the White Devil arrived, the hapless president's face filled with terror. He immediately begged for his life:
"No, please don't kill me! I had no way to stop the plan to attack you!"
Su Mu didn't answer. He went to the president, still trapped beneath the rubble, and met his eyes.
"Tell me where the other senior military officials are!"
At Su Mu's words, the president immediately understood what he was after and hurriedly explained:
"I don't know. After you walked out of the nuclear explosion, they concealed their whereabouts. Even I don't know where they are!"
"Tch, what a disappointment!" Su Mu remarked, then continued questioning him. "Then you should at least know what they look like and something about them besides their whereabouts, right?"
"Yes, yes!"
Hoping to secure a chance at survival, the president immediately told Su Mu where to find information on all the generals. It didn't take long for Su Mu to get their details.
Seeing the White Devil smile, the president worked up his courage and asked tentatively:
"Then... could you spare me?"
The White Devil didn't answer. He merely smiled at him, then stepped away and vanished from the White House, which had been reduced almost entirely to ruins.
Only after the White Devil had disappeared did the president let out a sigh of relief and murmur:
"I'm finally alive..."
But before he could finish speaking, a terrifying purple Imaginary Sphere, accompanied by dazzling lightning, fell from the sky!
A moment later, the White House had vanished completely, leaving behind only a huge, circular crater with no visible bottom!
