"What's going on? Tell us the whole story." Shun Lie pulled over to the side of the road. Sun Xingzhe, however, shielded Chen Shanzang behind him, wary of any danger that might suddenly leap out.
But the man didn't seem to be there to attack them. When he saw the three of them get out of the car, he immediately burst into tears and pleaded:
"Esteemed officials from the Culinary Association, you have to give the Gao family justice!"
"Go on! Tell us!" Sun Xingzhe loved a juicy bit of gossip. At that, he leaned against the car, looking keenly interested. Shun Lie, though, seemed to realize something, but said nothing and simply waited for the man to continue.
The man noticed their reaction. Though he felt a little like they were treating him as entertainment, the thought that they were important officials from the Culinary Association quickly calmed him down, and he began:
"You probably don't know this, esteemed sirs! Gao Family Village is the Gao family's ancestral property. When our young lady went to Heavenly Palace City to study, she brought back a young man. He seemed to run some kind of Self-Media account and was great at advertising. He helped the village promote our products, and sales went up quite a bit. The family head saw he had some ability and got along well with the young lady, so he took him in as a live-in son-in-law. Who knew that young man would be so reckless as to offend the Jade Em—"
"He earned a title with 'Emperor' in it." At the mention of the Jade Emperor, Shun Lie cut in coldly. The man immediately slapped himself. He hit himself so hard that his face turned red on the spot.
But he didn't seem to care. Instead,
