The Banner Land of the Chici Tribe was located at the western exit of Menghe Mountain Pass. The exit of Menghe Mountain Pass was like a gigantic trumpet, widening the farther out it went, until the ridges on both sides ended and a flat stretch of grassland began.
Inside the mountain pass's exit, there was also a river flowing down from the mountain range. This river gathered the spring water and snowmelt from more than a dozen nearby high mountains, and every summer, its volume surged, forming a lake five or six li wide.
The lake blocked the mountain mouth, and the Chici Tribe's Banner Land lay beyond the lake.
The Chici Tribe was different from the Ula Clan. The Ula Clan was a typical nomadic tribe; they only herded livestock and did not farm. The Chici Tribe, however, was indeed a tribe that half farmed and half herded. They had opened up a large number of fields around the river and lake, and had been farming there for over a hundred years.
Their pastures were also divided into more than a dozen places, big and small. They were even extremely good at hunting, and many small tribes would hunt inside Menghe Mountain.
