The proprietor of Luo's Cloth Shop was Shopkeeper Luo, Luo Shang, a somewhat thin man in his thirties.
After Shopkeeper Lu introduced them, Yang Zhengshan and Luo Shang were acquainted.
Yang Zhengshan could not be bothered with pleasantries and directly stated the business he wished to pursue.
"Shopkeeper Luo, I'd like to ask: if I can provide a batch of cloth shoes, can you sell them here?"
That was right—he intended to open a Needlework Workshop in Linguan Fortress.
The first product they would offer would be cloth shoes.
The women of Linguan Fortress all knew some needlework. Having them sew cloth shoes or simple garments would pose no problem at all.
Within Linguan Fortress were the soldiers of the Zhenbiao Five Battalions. These soldiers had all been recruited; they had no parents, wives, or children by their sides, and most of the clothes they wore were either issued by the army or bought themselves.
Ordinary folk mostly sewed their own cloth shoes, but these soldiers needed to buy them, which meant there was a market for cloth shoes in the fortress city.
"I can sell them, but the profit may not be very high," Luo Shang said after a moment's hesitation.
"If I sell them to you at twenty cash per pair, would you be willing to help sell them?" Yang Zhengshan asked.
"We can give it a try, but I cannot guarantee they will sell," Luo Shang did not refuse. First, because Yang Zhengshan had been introduced by Shopkeeper Lu; second, because Yang Zhengshan was a Centurion.
Though he did not think highly of this business, he was still willing to give it a try—not to make money, but simply to avoid offending Shopkeeper Lu and Yang Zhengshan.
In any case, helping sell them was not much trouble.
