The Hunt Begins

Lu Chen seemed caught completely off guard, a look of "horror" appearing on his face. In his haste, he raised a somewhat thin layer of deep azure Protective Qi, while retreating backward in disarray, trying to evade the attack.

Boom! Crack!

The blade qi and sword light struck the Protective Qi almost simultaneously. The Protective Qi rippled violently, letting out a sound of unbearable strain.

Though it did not shatter at once, Lu Chen was still jolted by the immense force until his blood and qi churned. He gave a muffled groan and was sent flying backward—diagonally downward, toward a crevice between reefs where the waves were especially turbulent and the mist even denser!

"We got him! Chase him! Don't let him escape!" Three Sky Wolf Sect cultivators leaped out from behind the reef on the left. All wore black armor and wielded curved blades. Their leader was astonishingly at Xiantian Great Perfection, and he pursued with a savage grin.

Two swordsmen in Ye Family attire also appeared on the right. Their faces were ordinary, their gazes cold, and without a word, they moved to encircle him.

Lu Chen "frantically" plunged into that region of denser mist and jagged reefs. Seemingly panicked and without direction, he darted left and right within it, yet was always forced to retreat toward one particular direction—the Soul-Losing Whirlpool.

The five pursuers were clearly well trained and worked in seamless coordination. They continually compressed Lu Chen's room to evade, herding him onward.

They did not seem eager to kill him immediately. Instead, they intended to drive him into a dead end.
