Tuoba Shan glanced at him but did not press further.
He had seen too many strange things happen to Lu Chen—from the Azure Dragon Secret Realm to Medicine King Valley, from the Southern Frontier to the Northern Frontier. Every time Lu Chen was on the verge of death, something new would emerge.
He was used to it by now.
"What do you plan to do next?" he asked.
Lu Chen looked up at the northern sky. The mist still lingered in the distance, like a grayish-white wall stretched across the horizon.
That thing had retreated, but the wall of mist had not. It was still there, like a closed eye.
"Wait," he said.
Tuoba Shan froze. "Wait for what?"
"For it to come again."
Tuoba Shan fell silent for a while, then bared his teeth in a grin. "Fine. Then I'll wait with you."
He got to his feet, brushed the dust off his backside, and headed toward his tent.
After taking a few steps, he suddenly looked back and said, "Your wife's a good one. While you were fighting the Corpse General on the city wall, she dragged Xu Polu back from King Yama's grasp all by herself in the tent. If not for her, Xu Polu would've been gone last night."
Lu Chen did not answer.
Tuoba Shan added, "And those three Soul-Annihilating Arrows—she climbed up the city wall and fired them herself. No one told her to do it. She went up on her own. She couldn't even draw the bow fully, and her hands were shaking like a sieve, but not a single one of those three arrows missed."
