It was eating something—a corpse lay on the ground, more than half decayed, its original shape no longer discernible.

The Three-Horned Nether Bull raised its head, its three blood-red eyes fixed on him. It still had half a bone clamped in its mouth, blood dripping from the corners of its jaws.
It moved first.
Lowering its head, it aimed its three horns at Lu Chen and charged.
It was incredibly fast, each step stamping a deep crater into the sand.
Lu Chen twisted aside, and Root Severer slashed across its neck—the scales were cut open, but the blade only sank in two inches. Black blood sprayed from the wound, carrying a foul stench.
The Three-Horned Nether Bull bellowed, turned its head, and thrust its horns at him again.
This time, it was even faster. Lu Chen had no time to dodge and could only block with Root Severer. The horns crashed into the blade, numbing his entire right arm. He staggered back five steps before regaining his footing.
