Namikawa Yū withdrew his gaze from the two children before him.
Just as Hagoromo and Hamura had each inherited a portion of Otsutsuki Kaguya's power, Indra and Asura had each inherited a portion of Hagoromo's power.
This gave them innate gifts far beyond those of ordinary people, with tremendous potential within each of them.
In Namikawa Yū's eyes, if the power within these two could be fully developed, they should be no weaker than pure-blooded members of the Otsutsuki Clan.
Their talents were exceptionally high, and their bloodlines were pure.
Relatively speaking, however, their personalities differed.
The elder brother, Indra, was more calculating and perceptive, and his talents were more outstanding.
The younger brother, Asura, was less gifted than his elder brother, but he had the advantage of a straightforward nature, and his talent for Senjutsu surpassed his brother's.
Overall, Namikawa Yū considered both of them outstanding; their strengths simply lay in different areas.
One thing was quite clear, however: between these two children, Hagoromo preferred the younger brother, Asura, to the elder brother, Indra.
Although their age meant that this preference was not yet particularly obvious, signs of it had already emerged.
"Of these two children, you prefer Asura?"
While the two children were out playing, Namikawa Yū looked at Hagoromo before him and asked.
Hagoromo hesitated for a moment, but ultimately nodded. "In terms of talent, Indra surpasses Asura, but in terms of moral character, Asura is far superior to Indra."
"They're only a few years old, and you can already judge their moral character?"
Namikawa Yū was somewhat speechless. "Besides, even if Indra is a little more calculating, that hardly makes him morally corrupt."
To Namikawa Yū, this was really a double standard.
They were only a few years old. How could anyone judge the quality of their moral character?
It was nothing more than Hagoromo's own preference.
He preferred Asura's personality, so naturally he found Asura more pleasing and was more inclined to magnify Indra's shortcomings.
But as their grandfather, Namikawa Yū felt that even if Indra was somewhat calculating, it was still within normal bounds, far from anything more serious.
Ultimately, being calculating was not actually a shortcoming most of the time.
To Namikawa Yū, being straightforward and lacking guile was not entirely a virtue, either.
It all depended on how they were guided.
But if Hagoromo maintained this attitude and continued treating them differently, then given Indra's temperament, even if there had originally been no trouble, he might well be driven into causing some.
"Sometimes it's better not to interfere too much with children, and to give them some freedom."
He spoke softly. "Interfering too much with a child's future may not bring you the results you want."
"You're right, Father."
Hagoromo nodded, but showed little intention of changing.
Namikawa Yū could see that he was not taking it seriously, and could only sigh inwardly without saying anything more.
His child had grown up, after all. He was no longer as obedient as he had once been, and had his own ideas about his private affairs.
Under these circumstances, Namikawa Yū could hardly say much more.
He could only hope that they would not follow their original path in the future and end up turning against each other as brothers.
Namikawa Yū sighed as various thoughts passed through his mind.
Unlike Hagoromo, who now had two children, Hamura had yet to show any signs of that.
Although he was already married, he had not yet conceived a child.
Namikawa Yū was in no hurry about this. With their lifespans, they had a long time ahead of them to slowly produce descendants.
"Come and see your mother."
A moment later, Namikawa Yū spoke with a smile and called Otsutsuki Kaguya over as well.
This was the first time Indra and Asura had met their grandmother, and the first time the Hagoromo Brothers had seen their mother again in many years.
"Grand... Grandmother..."
Seeing their grandmother for the first time, the brothers Indra and Asura seemed somewhat nervous.
They felt an immensely powerful pressure from Otsutsuki Kaguya.
It was the oppressive force of the Progenitor of Chakra. Even as she simply stood there without moving, the terrifying chakra aura emanating from her was almost suffocating, inspiring terror.
Before them, Otsutsuki Kaguya merely raised her head and glanced at Indra and Asura without saying much.
Her Byakugan held the same indifference as ever, devoid of any emotion, like a god standing high above.
"It's your first time meeting your grandsons. Don't frighten them."
Namikawa Yū's voice came from beside her.
Holding Kaguya's hand, he shook his head at her, signaling for her to relax a little.
Kaguya nodded, still without speaking, but the terrifying aura around her gradually subsided.
The brothers Indra and Asura beside them immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
"I heard that you two want to become kings in the future?"
Namikawa Yū shifted his gaze back to Indra and Asura.
At his words, the two immediately grew nervous again.
"Yes!"
Straightforward by nature, Asura was the first to speak. "We want to become kings like you, Grandpa, and lead our subjects to a better life in the future!"
"My brother and I both think it should be very interesting!"
Hearing Asura's words, Indra remained nervous, but ultimately nodded.
To become the king of a territory, to rule that region and be able to decide everything-this should be one of every man's dreams.
It was quite normal for Indra and Asura to have such thoughts.
Beside them, Hagoromo could not help growing a little nervous as he listened.
He raised his head and carefully observed Namikawa Yū's reaction, afraid that Namikawa Yū would become angry over this.
Clearly, however, Namikawa Yū would not get angry over such a small matter.
Under everyone's gazes, he smiled before speaking. "Admirable courage."
"The process is far more difficult than you imagine."
"But since you have this ambition, you might as well experience it ahead of time."
He pondered for a moment, then spoke amid the surprised gazes around him. "Let's do this."
"I'll give you the Island of the Black Tortoise and the Island of the Dragon to rule. From now on, you will be the kings of these two regions."
The Land of Ancestors had now unified the entire Ninja World.
Naturally, this entire world could not contain only this one continent.
Over the years, as fleets continued exploring farther afield, various islands had been discovered, many of them vast enough to rival a country in size.
The Island of the Dragon and the Island of the Black Tortoise were among the largest of these islands. Each covered a vast area, but they were still barren, inhabited only by some indigenous residents.
Now, in his capacity as king of the Land of Ancestors, Namikawa Yū bestowed these two places upon Indra and Asura as their private domains.
