Around the perimeter of the prison zone, Deputy Captain Brother Jun waited and waited, but Xiao Zhou still didn't show up. His brow furrowed slightly.
Xiao Zhou was usually sharp. It was only a short distance, and all he had to do was haul two prisoners over. There was no way it should take more than three minutes. Five minutes had already passed. Why hadn't there been a peep?
Had the enemy infiltrated the prison zone?
That couldn't be. If the enemy had made it inside, there should already have been a tremendous racket of fighting. If they'd come for the prisoners, they should have released them by now, then attacked from both inside and out and turned the few of them into sandwich filling.
But there was no commotion inside. Could that guy Xiao Zhou have gotten carried away by a pretty face and decided to die a womanizer?
The others had never really agreed with the strategy of going down together, either.
Someone couldn't help saying, "Brother Jun, those official guys outside seem to have eased up on their attack. Could the fighting have shifted in another area? Maybe we should hold off for a bit?"
The deputy captain said coldly, "Those bastards are full of tricks. Maybe they're just trying to lull us into a false sense of security—or waiting for us to turn on each other!"
Someone else said, "They're clearly stronger than us. Whether we turn on each other or not doesn't make much difference. Brother Jun, aren't you overthinking this?"
"Maybe they don't even consider us a threat. We're going to end up on their plate sooner or later, so they're just messing with us."
The deputy captain felt his mood sour. "Shut the hell up, all of you! What the hell is wrong
