The Offensive and Defensive Positions Reversed: Is the Surface World Counterattacking?
The once-arrogant Titan Academy now faced more than declining strength and a fading halo. It also had to endure condemnation from every side.
The two wars had both been instigated almost entirely by Titan Academy. The mainstream opinion in the Underground World now viewed Titan Academy as the chief culprit behind the Underground World's decline.
Public pressure from all sides came crashing down. If it had only been public opinion, things would have been somewhat better. What was more frightening was that the Underground World's hatred of Titan Academy had turned into concrete action, with large numbers of civilian reprisals taking place almost every day.
At first, these reprisals consisted merely of throwing filthy things such as rotten eggs and dead rats. Later, they grew increasingly violent, with direct physical attacks on Titan Academy's people.
A starving camel was still bigger than a horse. The attackers did not dare launch a large-scale assault on Titan Academy directly, but they would target its members, especially when they were alone.
In less than half a month after the ceasefire, at least several thousand attacks of various sizes had been reported. This showed just how deeply the entire Underground World hated Titan Academy.
It could be said that the more crazed they had been in the past, the more pitifully humble they were now that they had fallen.
This was especially true of the minor factions and individuals who had once been bullied by Titan Academy. Naturally, this was the perfect time to strike back.
Everyone wanted to kick a dog while it was down, and no one would miss such a good opportunity.
The mighty Titan Academy could only choose to endure these reprisals rather than launch a large-scale retaliation.
