"How should I address you?"
The Veiled Woman sat across the table and straightened in her seat.
Her voice was soft, with a distinctive cadence that was very soothing.
"Zhao Zhengyuan."
Chen Lin gave a name at random.
The Veiled Woman had only asked casually, to make their ensuing conversation easier.
Few people who came here to buy information used their real names, which was precisely why they had to sign a Soul Contract.
"So, Fellow Daoist Zhao. Here is the confidentiality contract. Please take a look."
The Veiled Woman took out a Soul Contract and handed it directly to Chen Lin.
"These contracts are standardized and have very few clauses. They simply require the buyer to keep our conversation confidential. After all, once information spreads, it loses its value."
Chen Lin nodded as he examined it.
Although a Soul Contract held little binding power over him, he still needed to inspect it carefully, just in case.
Then he frowned.
"Why does this only impose confidentiality restrictions on me, the buyer? Why are there no clauses concerning your Heavenly Secrets Pavilion?"
Chen Lin set the contract down, his tone somewhat dark.
Being bound by a one-sided restriction was deeply unpleasant.
Moreover, he intended to ask about some secret matters this time. If the other party was not bound by a contract, he would have reservations.
The Veiled Woman was not surprised. Anyone who was not a regular customer would ask this after reading the contract.
She answered calmly, "Information Brokers are different from customers. We receive many customers every year. If we signed a contract with every one of them, our souls could not bear it. But rest assured, the Heavenly Secrets Pavilion has over ten thousand years of credibility behind it. We never disclose any information about any customer."
