Chen Lin looked toward the end of the passage.
It was the same cell as before, unchanged. A figure sat inside with disheveled hair, her body bound in chain after chain, looking utterly bedraggled.
Hardly any of her clothing remained, and wounds both old and new covered her skin. Clearly, she had suffered considerable torment.
The sight left Chen Lin sighing.
Lan Ruxue had been such an exalted figure, yet even she had fallen to this state.
Still, had she not explored the Nightmare Realm with a projection, the Xuanyin Great King could never have sensed her and dragged her inside. She had simply been too careless.
The Nightmare Realm was nothing less than a cage for the powerful. Who knew how many mighty figures who commanded wind and rain in the Reality Realm had broken their wings here?

Chen Lin approached and slashed the cell door open.
Then he reached out, seized the chains on her body, and condensed celestial fire into a blade, cutting through every one of them.
These chains were no ordinary objects. They had reached the level of Origin Treasures and carried a peculiar aura, but they were still no match for celestial fire, which sliced through them as easily as tofu.
Chen Lin did believe some of what the Xuanyin Great King had said. Most likely, other Betrayers had coerced him into stealing rules and becoming a Betrayer himself. Otherwise, his cultivation fell far short of what a normal Betrayer should possess.
If all Betrayers were at this level, the Nightmare Law Controllers would hardly need to take them so seriously.
