Chen Lin told him the truth, then looked at Shen Wenling.
Shen Wenling looked back at Chen Lin.
Only after a long while did he nod.
"Since you've been so honest with me, I can hardly bring myself to strike you down. Let us put this matter behind us!"
With a beckoning gesture, he drew the Emerald Bracelet off Chen Lin's wrist and into his hand.
He glanced at it and said, "I gave this bracelet to that old friend of mine years ago. Now that she has passed away and her daughter's fate is unknown, I'll take it back."
The corner of Chen Lin's mouth twitched.
The Emerald Bracelet was immensely useful. Not only could it hold living beings, but its grade was high enough that it suffered no suppression anywhere.
He truly hated to lose it.
Besides, there were still quite a few treasures inside!
"What, you're unwilling?"
Seeing Chen Lin's reaction, Shen Wenling spoke mildly.
"Of course I'm willing. Since it belongs to you, Senior, it's only right for you to take it back."
Chen Lin forced out a faint smile.
Meanwhile, his mind raced as he tried to work out how to ask for the things inside the bracelet back.
There was no hope of keeping the bracelet itself.
Shen Wenling must have noticed it back in Four Directions City. He probably hadn't taken it then because he knew nothing about Chen Lin's background, and had waited until now to act.
But to Chen Lin's astonishment, Shen Wenling casually tossed the bracelet back to him.
He hurriedly caught it.
Then Shen Wenling said calmly, "Since you like it, keep using it. Having it with me would only make me think of its former owner. If my old friend's daughter is still alive, the two of you
