The scroll depicted a three-headed alien.
The head in the middle looked much like a normal human's, but there was a small head on either side. Both were highly abstract in appearance, with long necks that extended far beyond the shoulders.
The pattern on the torn cloth was part of the head on the left.
"Even a scrap of cloth has something wrong with it. Trouble really is everywhere!"
Chen Lin sighed.
Then he raised his hand and unleashed a Soul-Destroying Finger.
The light landed on the torn cloth.
But there was no reaction.
Chen Lin frowned at this and activated Death Gaze, sweeping it across the torn cloth.
This time, there seemed to be a reaction.
But it was extremely faint.
He used it again, with the same result: only a slight fluctuation, so faint that he would never have noticed it without watching intently the whole time.
But any fluctuation at all meant there was something wrong with this torn cloth.
It was definitely hiding something.
Zhao Chengfeng's mutation had been caused by contact with this object. But since it had taken so long to manifest, Chen Lin did not know whether the demonic aura on the cloth was too weak or had only now been activated.
If it was the latter, that meant the pattern on the torn cloth was alive and intelligent.
By extension, it must have had some purpose in causing Zhao Chengfeng to mutate at this particular moment.
Thoughts churned through his mind.
But Chen Lin's hands did not remain idle.
He brought out every means at his disposal, attacking the torn cloth with them one after another.
None worked.
Not only did he fail to provoke another fluctuation from the cloth, he could not damage it at all.
The cloth was made of
