There had been scares, but no real harm.
Chen Lin had thought this checkpoint would be the end of the road for him, yet the process had gone surprisingly smoothly.
Though he had fallen into danger several times, he had escaped each crisis unscathed.
But he had also noticed something unusual.
During the challenge, three attacks had broken through his saber defenses and struck his body, yet each had happened to be blocked by one of his three treasures.
"I told you, your luck is very good."
Huiye knelt on one knee beside Chen Lin, panting heavily.
She was covered in blood, with several wounds that were shocking to behold. Even so, she had only managed to cross this passage brimming with murderous intent because Chen Lin had protected her.
It was also because he had been protecting her that a flying saber had struck the birthmark on his neck, nearly taking his life.
"All right, I admit you were right. My luck really is pretty good."
Chen Lin touched the birthmark on his neck and did not dispute her words.
Without that luck, never mind helping her, he would never have survived himself. This checkpoint was a deathtrap. No wonder all those upper ancient divine beings had met their downfall here.
Huiye rose to her feet.
She glanced at the passage behind them, a trace of terror crossing her face.
Then she burst into an exhilarated laugh.
"Hahaha! To think I actually made it through the Seventh Checkpoint! Fellow Daoists, today I'll uncover the mysteries of this pagoda for all of you!"
"Don't get carried away. There's still another checkpoint. Why don't you tell me your plans first?"
Chen Lin cut short her triumphant display.
"Keep going, of course."
Huiye looked toward the Light Gate ahead as she spoke.
