Then he turned to Lan Menghan. "What do you think, Fellow Daoist Lan? These Light Gates may contain starlight spirit. Do you intend to enter one, or continue farther in?"
"I'll stay here."
Lan Menghan's expression shifted several times before she finally decided not to proceed.
She explained, "I'm injured, and resisting the erosion of the starlight is already difficult. I can't go any farther, but I won't hold you back. You need only help me open one Light Gate, Fellow Daoist Chen. Our agreement will still stand."
"Then have you decided which Light Gate to enter, Fellow Daoist Lan?"
"The blue one. It matches the color of my innate talent. Perhaps it will bring me good luck."
Chen Lin's eyes flickered.
He had thought she would choose red.
Red, after all, represented destiny.
He had first met her in the River of Destiny. Since she could manifest her physical body within it, she undoubtedly possessed mastery of the destiny rule.
The colors of these Light Gates corresponded to their respective laws, something she could not possibly be unaware of. Her choice of the blue Light Gate meant she also cultivated the power law, and that it was her primary focus.
"All right."
"Then I'll see whether I can open this gate. I'll need your assistance, Fellow Daoist Lan."
Chen Lin stopped speculating about her.
After agreeing, he flew up to the blue Light Gate.

This was not a suitable occasion to use the Crystal Needle.
