A cup of wine went down his throat.
Chen Lin immediately felt as though he were floating on air. An involuntary look of superiority entered his eyes, and he gazed at the hunchbacked old man as though looking at an ant.
But he had experienced this before. He immediately sensed something was wrong and mobilized the power of that special trait to resist it. The abnormal state swiftly vanished.
Yet it did not vanish completely.
A small portion of the wine's power was absorbed, strengthening the energy throughout Chen Lin's body.
"Good wine."
Chen Lin smacked his lips, looking as though he wanted more.
It seemed the things here were not all dangerous. As long as he could withstand them, he could reap corresponding benefits.
But the more that was true, the stronger the power of the rules here would be.
That would make escaping harder.
"You can certainly hold your liquor, outsider. Have another cup."
The old man filled the cup.
Chen Lin did not drink immediately.
Instead, he asked with apparent casualness, "Shopkeeper, how could you tell I was an outsider?"
"Heh."
The old man chuckled.
"Your aura is so obvious. What is there to distinguish? But once you're drunk, you'll be able to adapt to the environment here. Living here isn't bad, either. You can even receive blessings from divine beings."
"Blessings from divine beings?"
Chen Lin brought the cup to his lips.
"The divine statues at the end of the alley don't look particularly special to me. Can they really bestow blessings?"
"That depends on them."
The old man continued wiping the counter.
"Since they made great vows and became gods through them, they must fulfill those vows. Otherwise, they can only cycle through samsara in the God Realm."
"What is the God Realm?"
