Ch. 2381Grand Court Worship
Key plot points and events
- At the Golden Money House, Chen Lin accepts a valuable Seven-Color Nightmare Coin token and an unidentified seed. He rejects an Appointment Document for the post of Yuanlun City Chief Eunuch, exchanging it for a Seven-Color Road Guide instead.
- After leaving the shop, Chen Lin is approached by Ye Sheng, a one-armed stranger who offers to help them escape. Chen Lin agrees to talk, with the sickly young man joining them.
- Ye Sheng reveals that there are four Divine Temples, containing nine newly transformed divine statues—former members of Chen Lin’s group. They can recover only by fulfilling vows made in the God Realm; otherwise, they will be destroyed at the next Grand Court Worship.
- Ye Sheng explains that Grand Court Worship is triggered when the Bizarre Kingdom’s rulers gather enough energy to activate the Divine Seal. A recent disturbance in the Seal prompted a widespread hunt for cultivators across many realms, including Star Ruins.
- He also explains that the God Realm is a special space accessed with a God-Sealing Token, where title missions are completed. Those who earn titles become “Orthodox Gods” and gain exclusive divine abilities, but only sufficiently high-ranking nobles or officials qualify.
- Chen Lin learns that Ye Sheng came from the Boundless Realm in the Seven-Star Realm and entered the Bizarre Kingdom through a special Nightmare Realm scenario. Ye Sheng is now trapped there.
Character developments and interactions
- Chen Lin remains wary but practical: he refuses an unwanted official position, recognizes the value of the Road Guide, and cooperates with Ye Sheng because their shared need to escape outweighs mutual distrust.
- Chen Lin takes the lead in the conversation, probing Ye Sheng for information while withholding sensitive details about the group’s mission.
- The sickly young man introduces himself as Ximen Yu and stands with Chen Lin during the negotiations, though he remains largely quiet.
- Ye Sheng proves knowledgeable about the Bizarre Kingdom and candid about his own predicament, but he does not promise that Chen Lin can retrace his route.
Significant themes
- Cooperation amid distrust: The characters work together not because they trust one another, but because their goals overlap.
- Power governed by rules: In the Bizarre Kingdom, titles, vows, and official status can matter more than brute force.
- The cost of ambition and ritual: Grand Court Worship’s energy-gathering campaign endangers cultivators across realms, while failed vows can leave people trapped and doomed.
- Pragmatism and self-preservation: Chen Lin seeks useful resources and a safe future for his loved ones rather than embracing conflict for its own sake.
