Starry City had been far stronger than Shuguang City, and Hundred Flowers Fairy, the foremost expert on the Starry Continent, had been stationed there. If even it had fallen, the attack it suffered must have been unimaginably fierce.
A Transmission Talisman could carry only a limited amount of information. Luo Qinglan had not explained exactly why the city fell, but she said she was unharmed and had withdrawn into the Wuding Sea with a group of survivors to join the cultivators there.
That eased Chen Lin's worries considerably.
Luo Qinglan was already a Nascent Soul Cultivator. With her divine phoenix bloodline and spatial abilities, as long as she had survived the siege unscathed, she could escape even if she encountered a powerful monster in the wilderness that she could not defeat.
The sea cultivators were also powerful. Some of their races could not leave the ocean and thus had not joined either of the two main strongholds. Joining forces with them would offer considerably greater safety.
To keep her from worrying, Chen Lin took out one of his last two Transmission Talismans, briefly described the situation on his end, and assured her that he was safe. He told her there was no need to reply; her final Transmission Talisman should be saved for a major emergency.
After activating the Transmission Talisman, Chen Lin hesitated no longer. He took out a blank jade slip, recorded some information on it, and placed it beside the Earth Escape Talisman. After a moment's thought, he also left behind some spirit stones, pills, and other supplies, then returned to the surface.
Outside, evening had already fallen.
