My outer ankle was probably even more swollen. Looks like I'd pushed myself too hard yesterday.
I gritted my teeth and sat up, then removed the bandages to check the wound. My outer ankle was more swollen, and the two wounds had both turned a purplish blue.
After applying disinfectant, I rebandaged it. Then I picked up the wooden stick beside the chair and limped out of the room.
Normally, an injury like this would require keeping my foot elevated while I slept. But given our circumstances, I couldn't ask for much. Getting a decent night's sleep was already a luxury.
The two of them knew I was injured, so they took turns keeping watch that night and didn't include me in the rotation.
